I just finished a week and a half in New York, and had a great time connecting with some of my favorite people and musicians in some of my favorite neighborhoods. I'll be posting about some of these experiences in the days to come....but I shared some music of an artist that I got to record with in LA before my fall tour with Engelbert Humperdinck with some friends so I wanted to share it here too. You can read more about John Isaac Watters and his forthcoming EP Parachute Tramps on his website here. He's got an amazingly unique sound and is the kind of person you always want to hang around with. He recorded the album at The Carriage House--an incredible studio in Silverlake with tons of analog gear run by unassuming genius Sheldon Gomberg (check him out here). Here's a sample of one track I played some clarinet on with him that's also available for a listen on his website, entitled Canary Yellow: Enjoy. And check out the group that I play in with Isaac and friends called Still Watters Run Deep, an amazing collective of singer/songwriters and multi-instrumentalists that plays frequently in Los Angeles. |
